The Experience

A transformative journey where art, culture and inspiration meet.

Art Elfouly Residency offers artists a rare opportunity to step away from everyday routines and settle into a creative environment designed for exploration, connection and artistic growth. Set within an inspiring cultural landscape, the residency brings together international artists to create, exchange ideas and share meaningful moments through creativity, community and cultural discovery.

Creative Environment

Studios shaped around the light.

Vaulted ateliers, quiet reading rooms and long avenues of trees — every corner of the château and its estate is arranged for the making of work. Northern windows for painters, a stone barn for sculptors, a darkroom for photographers, and beyond them sixty hectares of forest and formal garden where thinking is allowed to wander.

Artist Community

Twelve international voices, one long table.

Each season brings together twelve artists from four continents — painters, photographers, sculptors, filmmakers and writers whose practices sit beside one another for the length of a residency. Long dinners, studio visits and unhurried afternoons become the ground for lasting collaborations, exchanges of language and friendships that outlast the season.

Cultural Experience

France, offered slowly.

Truffle dinners with neighbouring vignerons. Private visits to Romanesque abbeys and regional museums. Evenings with visiting curators, occasional concerts in the orangerie, and small exhibitions opened only for the house. The country reveals itself here as it once did to French painters a century ago — quietly, and on its own terms.

Personal Creative Journey

The room to become someone new.

Time, above all, is the material handed to each resident — long uninterrupted mornings, weeks without a schedule, permission to begin again. Many artists arrive with a project and leave with a body of work; others come to reflect and depart with the first pages of what will occupy the next year of their practice.

A residency, quietly considered

To leave with a body of work — and a wider world.

The experience does not end when the season closes. It continues in exhibitions, correspondences and quiet introductions — long after the château door has been drawn shut.
